Sahuaro Junior Girl Scout Troop 11
Troop 11 has 23 fourth grade girls and has been in existence at SSPP since the girls started as Daisy’s in Kindergarten. As a Girl Scout, the girls are part of a sisterhood of millions of girls who share many of the Girl Scout values and traditions. The Girl Scout Program promotes girls to become the best person they can be by feeling good about themselves and their accomplishments. They are given opportunities to try new activities and be open to new challenges. The program focuses on building a respect for other people and building strong friendships, understanding and appreciating people who are different.  Finally, the girls are taught how to build leadership skills and contribute to society by helping others. Troop 11 has been participated in many activities over the years including, camping at Mount Lemmon, overnights at Reid Park Zoo and Kitt Peak Observatory and explorations at Botanical Gardens, Tohol Chul Park and Sabino Canyon. They have learned about drawing, sewing, cooking, fishing and crocheting.  They have participated in programs about health and exercise including, yoga, bi-atholon, personal fitness, first aid and eating healthy. They have visited the Veteran Administration Hospital and sang Christmas Carols, made cupcakes for Casa De Los Ninos and TMC Children’s Ward.  Finally, they enjoyed arts and craft, singing, horseback riding, swim parties, a tea party in SSPP courtyard and selling cookies. This year they are planning a Father-Daughter dance to raise money for a trip to San Diego where they will learn how to surf and visit Sea World.
